[[Video recording turns on abruptly, almost certainly accidentally, revealing a very harried and vaguely uncomfortable-looking Kanji sitting under a kotatsu across from Yoite, his occupied hand stretched at an unnatural angle to allow the maximum possible space between the two. Surrounding them are piles of knitting - at least three scarves, a couple of hats, and what looks like a sock monkey. Kanji's using his free hand to fiddle with his phone, when suddenly something on the screen catches his eye; he turns white, then green, then beet red, and he barks out without even seeming to notice,]]

Aw, you gotta be goddamn kiddi--

[[He catches himself, turning an impressive shade of violet as his eyes flicker back and forth uncomfortably from Yoite to the screen of his phone. Without even being asked, he starts trying to cover his tracks.]]

Ah, no, sorry, it's nothin' important, I just--

[[He shuts his phone, inadvertently ending the recording as well.]]

Yes, they are enjoying one another's company it seems. I am vaguely acquainted with the master of their estate, he is a detective of a sorts as well.

Well, he is more or less some sort of British nobility. However, he had an interest in certain cases in the past. Because of this I have made a effort to introduce myself to him.

[Annnd, as soon as he starts explaining, he realizes maybe silence is the best policy, especially about how if they ever want to escape from this string thing they're going to have to kiss - to be honest, even if Kanji was confident saying something like that wouldn't give Yoite a heart attack (he's not), he's equally unsure he can actually, you know.

[He starts to reach forward to help Yoite with his work, then hesitates, hand hovering awkwardly midway before he shakes his head, pulls his hand back, and sets down his phone.]

[From under the brim of his hat, Yoite fixes Kanji with his slow, steady stare, assessing him until - apparently satisfied with his answer - he nods. Settling back down with his knees up and his arms stretched at length in front of him, he picks up his knitting and resumes picking at the tangle with gloved fingers.]

.... Is anybody free yet?

[He flexes his little finger to tug softly on the other end of the string.]

[Kanji lets the string give a little with the tug, grinning ruefully and fixing a sidelong glance at his cell phone again.]

Yeah, a couple people've gotten out, so there might be a solution, but.

[His mouth is suddenly kind of dry, but he does his best to ignore it, shifting his glance up to meet Yoite's.]
